The Dallas city attorney has announced retirement plans

DALLAS – Dallas’ city attorney plans to retire next month, according to an email sent to city officials.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 17+ years with the City and look forward to starting the next chapter of my life,” said Caso.

Caso’s retirement announcement comes one week before he is expected to receive his annual review from the Dallas City Council. The Dallas Morning News reported.

The performance review was postponed twice last year.

Caso joined the city attorney’s office in 2005 and was appointed City Attorney in April 2020. Caso became interim city attorney after the departure of Larry Casto, who ran for good luck for the mayor in 2018.

The city attorney’s office represents Dallas in a variety of legal matters, including trial and appeals, zoning and land use, First Amendment issues and open records requests and cases.

The role of city attorney is the third highest paying city job, at $325,000 a year, behind city manager ($423,247) and city manager. employee pension funds ($351,829).
