C. Deen Strickland will resign as school board attorney effective January 31.
Strickland tendered his resignation to School Board Chairman Duward Boatright in writing last Monday.
Strickland has served as a board attorney for nearly 38 years.
In his letter to Boatright and members of the school board, Strickland said he was honored and happy to serve as the School Board attorney.
“Over the years, I have met many good people, and had the opportunity to serve in the best school district in Georgia,” he said.
Strickland expressed his gratitude to the board and wished the school district the best of luck, saying he hopes “the District will continue to do well in all areas.”
Strickland reported that he was downsizing and wanted to travel.
The principal of the school, Dara Bennett, said that the board will start looking for a new lawyer, but there is no set time to hire one.
