Georgia Attorney Dismissed Over $7.8 Million Loan Debt Consolidation

A lawyer convicted of defrauding the government of nearly $8 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans cannot avoid disbarment, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled in on Wednesday.

Chandra McNeil Norton pleaded guilty in November 2020 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a felony, for causing the loss of $7.8 million in the PPP program. He used the money for his own expenses and did not self-report his conviction to the State Bar of Georgia, according to the state’s highest court.
