Gavin P. Holihan announced Monday that he will run for Lehigh County District Attorney.
“Lehigh County is home to me and my family and it is an honor to serve our neighbors and keep our community safe,” Holihan said in a news release.
Holihan, a famous lawyer, earlier this month he announced his return to the Lehigh County district attorney’s officewhere he works as a first assistant district attorney, after years in private practice.
His candidacy follows Jim Martin, the longest-serving attorney general in county history, said he will not seek re-election.. Holihan, a Republican, has Martin’s support, according to the release.
“Gavin Holihan is a respected attorney throughout Lehigh County.” Martin said. “His experience speaks for itself; no one knows this office and this courthouse better than Gavin Holihan. He will be able to hit the ground running on Day 1 and will serve the people of Lehigh County well.”
Holihan has taught at the Allentown Police Academy for more than a decade and has served on the Criminal Justice Act Felony Panel for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania since 2002, records show. He is an alumnus of Franklin and Marshall College and completed law school at Fordham University School of Law. He lives in Lehigh County with his wife.
