BATON ROUGE, Sun. (WAFB) – East Baton Rouge Parish Attorney Hillar Moore is considering running for Louisiana Governor or Attorney General.
Moore, a Democrat, was re-elected in 2009. His current term expires on January 10, 2027.
“I think I have the best job in the world, especially as the state’s district attorney in Baton Rouge. I have a great office staff, I love it. It’s just There are people in the system who have asked me to review these offices, especially the governor’s office. Happy to talk to them and talk to them about it. Or something I’m going to do for real or not, politics is a total contact game now. And I think any statewide race especially for governor is going to be really bad, it’s a It’s sad. It’s not the way it should be. I think in politics, a lot of times in Washington and sometimes here, we’ve lost our defenses. People want to punch you. and fight and knock you out of the ring. And I think that most of our country and the state of the center, where we can agree on many things without exception, than the knocking of all people c outside the ring for a knock knock, and we don’t get the work of people. done. So, it’s something to think about, but I’m happy with the job I have,” said DA Hillar Moore.
Moore told WAFB that he is not sure when he will be able to make a decision.
“I really don’t have a schedule. I have talked with my family many times and others who understand the situation very well. And you know, I think there would be a clear path for someone of my background. But the question is, what is the right thing to do for me, my family, my office and the people of Baton Rouge at this time,” said Moore.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Jeff Landry, Treasurer John Schroder, State Senator Sharon Hewitt, State Rep. Richard Nelson, and Xan John are the only GOP candidates to enter the race. Along with Lake Charles businessman Hunter Lundy, he is running as an Independent.
