Analysts have pushed back on claims the BBC chair helped Johnson secure a loan.

A spokesman for Mr Johnson denied the newspaper’s claim, saying: “This is rubbish, Richard Sharp never gave Boris Johnson any financial advice, never sought it. Johnson also received financial advice from him. Sharp from Boris Johnson for this or any other service.
