ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union was recently named Credit Union Difference Maker of the Year.
The Michigan Credit Union League encouraged credit unions from across the state to submit stories of how they have made an impact on their members and in their communities.
AAACU’s request shared a story with Kelly Alexander, the manager of the Oscoda Branch, who is helping a young man to help him learn how to budget and save to buy his first car. Alexander shared how he taught the members how to save and how to save to help him achieve his goal.
Of all the stories submitted, eight were selected to compete for Credit Union Difference Maker of the Year. Those eight stories were made into videos and shared on social media to allow people to vote for their favorite proposals. Over two weeks, AAACU’s proposal received the most votes and was awarded the Credit Union Difference Maker of the Year.
